Reflection on PP

Reflection on power point-
The overview on Power Point was a little overwhelming, I had very little exposure to PP prior to this class, I was trying to familiarize myself with the basics, such as how to type text and how to reopen a screen I just completed, when Erika was going over pictures, sounds etc. But I can definitely see how this tool will be beneficial to my class, no matter what age group I’m with. I love the idea of doing some of my lessons on PP, it will make the text neater, and having it on PP will make the words larger so all students can read it. (My handwriting is iffy on the white board!) I was also excited to see that games, such as Jeopardy can be played (for free!) on PP. That is a game that I can use for all age groups!
I really enjoyed the multiple intelligence quiz and the discussion we had in class. It wasn’t a surprise to me that I scored higher on the “nature smart” and “body smart”. I always enjoyed classroom activities that was done outdoors or that required me to move around. Because I enjoyed these types of lessons the most, I really want to incorporate them into my classroom. I have to remember to consider the students who have other smarts too. I can do this by having my students take a multiple intelligence quiz in the beginning of the school year, I’m sure there are quizzes like that for people of all ages.
The assigned reading will definitely come in handy when I begin the PP assignment. I noticed that it broke down how to measure the comprehension of students with different intellects. Some examples I liked were to “conduct an investigation to produce info to support a view” and “put on a play about the study area”. These links will be very useful in my assignment as well as my classroom!

I love using Power Point! I think it is just the coolest thing, and it is not as hard as it looks! I agree with you about having students take the multiple intelligence quiz, I think it would be a great way to learn about the students.

Don't worry about PowerPoint...it gets a lot easier the more you do it. Once you adapt to it, you will wonder how you ever got by without it! I agree that the idea of doing a Jeopardy game in class is a great idea that I had never thought of before...I would love it if my teachers did that when I was in elementary school. :)

PowerPoint is such a neat tool and there are so many possibilities with it. Not only can it be used to assist us sloppy white board writers but it can be used as free educational games! Anything free and useful for a teacher is like gold! I definitely think that having students take a multiple intelligence quiz at the beginning of the year will help guide our classrooms and the learning styles we should ensure we use and stress in our lesson planning. Keep up the practice on the PowerPoint it is a great, fast and easy tool when you are comfortable with it.

Leah, I know you will come to love powerpoint! It is a great tool for the classroom, as well as for students and their projects! I think back to when I was in elementary school and can't believe how much easier it would have been with powerpoint. Prjocets would have taken less time, and lessons my teachers taught would have been so much better!

But don't forget! Its only helpful if you use it correctly! I think that, so often, teachers try to pack so much onto a powerpoint that we miss the actual lecture. Sometimes, teachers just move on and don't allow enough time to write things down and then don't go back for you. So use it or lose it!
